Our Journey

How We Started

A passion for glass, shared with Prague's creative community

We're solvmark s.r.o., and we've been bringing stained glass crafting to life since 2021. What began as a small studio in the heart of Prague has grown into a vibrant weekend workshop space where people discover the meditative art of glass design and soldering. We didn't start with a fancy business plan — we started because we loved working with glass and wanted to share that experience.

The first classes were small. Just a handful of people curious about cutting glass, understanding color theory, and mastering the soldering iron. We realized quickly that stained glass isn't just about creating panels — it's about understanding how light moves through colored glass, how to join pieces with precision, and finding your own creative voice in the process. Every weekend, we watched people walk in uncertain and leave with their first completed panel in hand.

Today, we're still focused on that same thing: teaching the craft properly. No shortcuts. No rushing through techniques. We believe you learn best when you understand the why behind each step — whether it's selecting the right glass for your design, getting your soldering joints clean, or troubleshooting a tricky angle. Our classes aren't lectures. They're hands-on, real work in a real studio.

What We Teach

Core techniques and knowledge for weekend crafters ready to build real skills

Glass Selection & Design

Learn how different glass types respond to light, how color combinations work together, and how to design panels that translate your vision into reality. We'll show you how to choose the right materials from the start.

Cutting & Pattern Work

Precision cutting is where solid technique matters. You'll learn pattern layout, glass scoring, breaking techniques, and how to handle tricky curves. We'll make sure you're confident before you move to the next stage.

Soldering Mastery

Clean joints and strong seams. This is where the technical skills really show. We'll cover temperature control, joint angles, safety, and how to get that professional finish that makes the difference between a panel that holds and one that's bulletproof.

Safety & Tools

You won't be guessing about safety. Every tool gets explained. Every hazard gets addressed. We provide quality equipment and make sure you know exactly how to use it before you pick it up. Your comfort and safety come first.

Finishing Touches

Patina application, final cleaning, and display options. We'll show you how to add that final layer that makes your panel look gallery-ready. It's not just about getting it done — it's about getting it right.

Problem Solving

Things don't always go as planned in a workshop. We'll help you troubleshoot issues, adjust techniques, and find solutions that work for your hands and your style. That's where real learning happens.

How We Run Our Classes

1. Small Groups

We keep class sizes manageable so you're not waiting around. Everyone gets attention, feedback, and time at the bench. No feeling like you're just one of thirty people.

2. Weekend Scheduling

Classes run on weekends because we know that's when you have time. Whether it's Saturday or Sunday, you'll find dedicated time to work with glass in a structured, supported environment.

3. Real Outcomes

You'll leave with an actual panel you've made. Not a demo piece. Not something half-finished. A real, functional stained glass panel that you designed and built from start to finish.

4. Honest Feedback

We'll tell you what's working and what needs adjustment. Not to discourage you, but because you deserve clear guidance on how to improve. That's how craftsmanship develops.

Why We Do This

The principles that guide every class, every decision, and every interaction at solvmark s.r.o.

Respect the Craft

Stained glass has centuries of tradition. We're not here to reinvent it — we're here to teach it properly and help you add your own voice to it.

Show Up Fully

When you're in our studio, we're present. We're watching, listening, and genuinely invested in your progress. Not distracted, not rushing. Full attention.

Celebrate Mistakes

Broken glass happens. Soldering joints fail sometimes. That's not failure — that's how you learn. We make space for experimentation without judgment.

Build Community

Crafting doesn't have to be solitary. You'll meet other people who share this interest. That shared experience makes the learning richer and more memorable.

Stay Accessible

You don't need to be an artist or have previous experience. Anyone can learn this craft. We've designed everything to be welcoming and doable for real people.

Keep Improving

We're always refining how we teach, what we cover, and how we support you. Your feedback shapes what we do. We're learning alongside you.
